Interview: Fabian Meeusen

Since 2021, we have been supporting various Swiss athletes, triathletes and swimmers, in collaboration with Orca. Fabian Meeusen, Swiss U23 champion, is one of these athletes who runs with an Orca suit*. He presents himself in the following lines.

Can you introduce yourself?

My name is Fabian Meeusen and I am 24 years old. I am part of the Swiss elite national team, participate in World and European Championships and became U23 Swiss Champion.

When did you began triathlon?

2017 was my last season as a swimmer before I switched to triathlon. A path with many hurdles, but definitely the right decision!

What do you like in this sport?

In triathlon there are always opportunities to improve because with 3 sports you are always challenged. The races are fast, dynamic, tactically and physically extremely challenging.

How is the season going so far?

The season is going well, I managed to qualify for the European Championships, crashed there on the bike due to an athlete in front of me. I hope to show my potential during the second half of the season!

As a very good swimmer, how comfortable do you feel with the Orca Alpha?

The Orca Alpha gives me the perfect balance between support and comfort. I get the necessary support to lie optimally in the water, but keep my natural feeling in the water due to the flexible arm material. This way I can make maximum use of my swimming strength!

What are the next objectives for your seasons?

The next focus is on the Swiss Championships in Nyon. In September I’ll be competing at the World Student Championships in Brazil and at the end of the season I’ll be competing in World Cups.

*Other athletes we had the pleasure of supporting this year are the triathletes Adrien Briffod, Maxime Füri, Pierre Moraz, Ludovic Séchaud, Thibaud Decurnex, the juniors triathlets Livia Gross and Laetizia Martinelli, the three-time winner of the Ironman Switzerland Jan Van Berkel and the swimmer Flavie Capozzi
